Engaging People is an exciting new project funded by the NHS to support more people and communities to get involved and have a say in the future development of healthcare services across the Bradford and Craven District.
The aims of the project are to:
- Include and involve larger numbers of people in the development of future healthcare services, particularly those people who are less heard from or are underrepresented.
- Gather better information from people about what they think of current healthcare services; find out more about their personal experiences and what is important to them.
- Use the feedback to inform longer term plans and future decisions about healthcare services across the Bradford District.
By involving people in decisions about their healthcare, people’s overall health and wellbeing will improve.
Who is involved?
The Engaging People Project is a partnership between Healthwatch Bradford and:
HALE (Health Action Local Engagement) – a Bradford based healthy living charity working with the most vulnerable people in the community.
CNet (Bradford and District Community Empowerment Network Ltd) – a Bradford based charity working to make sure that views of voluntary and community groups and active citizens are heard on the key decision-making partnerships.
BTM (Bradford Talking Media) – a Bradford based charity that is passionate about making information accessible to as many people as possible.
Bradford CCGs (NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups) – There are 3 CCGs working across Bradford Airedale and Craven that plan, buy and monitor local health services with a clear vision of better health for the people of Bradford.
Together the partners will all work together to reach out to, involve and include the people of Bradford so that they can have their say, share their views, ideas and opinions about healthcare services.
What have we been up to?
We’ve been out in the district speaking to people about many different things, including community-based care as an alternative to hospital, uptake of support to stop smoking during pregnancy, the future of care in Craven, and self-care. You can read the published reports below. The CCGs will be using what people told us to inform their plans for the future of health services.
We gather people’s views in the community by visiting existing groups, attending community events, visiting places where people go and setting up some new groups.
We're also online through our Engaging People blog where you can talk to us and share your views and ideas.
How can you get involved?
We want to hear from and listen to as many people living in Bradford who want to talk to us and tell us how they feel about their healthcare services. You can get involved by attending our events, calling the team on 01274 271088 or 01274 305045 and following our blog.
You can also get involved by volunteering with the Engaging People Team and helping us reach out to other people within your community.
