What is the Healthwatch Stroke Project?
The Healthwatch Stroke Project is a partnership between the following organisations:
- Local Healthwatch: Bradford & District and North Yorkshire
- Voluntary and community sector groups across Bradford and District
- Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- Airedale NHS Trust
- NHS Bradford, District & Craven Clinical Commissioning Groups
The project aims to capture the experiences of patients and carers who have used stroke services in Bradford and District and Craven, and use these experiences to influence and improve services and patient experience. We are also working towards ensuring that community groups, organisations and individuals are connected to the service improvement Project Group and are consulted, and to establish a network (Stroke Community of Interest) for the exchange of information and ideas.
To further support the work, a special post has been created to coordinate and support the improvement work across the two NHS trusts. The Stroke Collaboration Lead will work closely with the Healthwatch Stroke Project going forwards.
The project will run until the end of the year, but it is hoped that the network and relationships created will continue beyond this period.
How can I share my experiences of stroke services?
Please share your experiences of stroke services by contacting Sara Firth who leads on our Healthwatch Stroke Project:
If you have received treatment for a stroke at Bradford and/or Airedale Hospitals, please complete this online survey. Your feedback will help the hospitals to deliver a better service for patients. To find out more about the survey, take a look at this poster.
What is a Healthwatch Stroke Ambassador?
Through the Healthwatch Stroke Project we have developed a new voluntary role - the Healthwatch Stroke Ambassador. Our Ambassadors are individuals from an organisation or group who listen to and represent the views of people from that group. They collect their group members’ experiences of stroke services and communicate these comments directly to us, and therefore play a key role in improving health and social care services across Bradford District and Craven.
To find out more about the role, how we support our Ambassadors and to discuss joining the team of Ambassadors, please contact Sara Firth who leads on our Healthwatch Stroke Project:
