Care homes

Regular asymptomatic testing for COVID-19 in all remaining settings in England, including social care, will be paused from 31 August 2022, as cases continue to fall.

The nationwide vaccination programme means cases have now fallen significantly and the risk of transmission has reduced. In a recent seven day period, deaths had fallen to 744 and hospitalisations to 6,005. Symptomatic testing in high risk settings will continue.

The Department of Health and Social Care has written to the care sector outlining the changes for care settings. Meanwhile, the UK Health Security Agency has issued an update to testing guidance specific to the adult social care sector.
