Have Your Say on Future Vascular Services in West Yorkshire - Deadline Extended
NHS England Yorkshire and Humber region has extended its deadline for patients and the public to submit their views on proposals for the future of vascular services in West Yorkshire. Vascular services reconstruct, unblock or bypass arteries and are often specialist procedures to reduce the risk of sudden death or amputation and prevent stroke.
Due to significant staffing pressures it is being proposed that the three current centres – Bradford Royal Infirmary, Leeds General Infirmary and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary – be reduced to two: the Bradford and Leeds centres only. These proposals could result in all specialised vascular surgery that requires an overnight hospital stay being transferred from Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to Bradford Royal Infirmary, which would potentially affect up to 800 patients a year.
