Support for unpaid carers in Bradford district to gain confidence and develop skills

Bradford district residents who are caring for a loved one are being offered the chance to develop skills and improve their confidence with a new service – Carers’ Futures.

The project, run by the charity Carers’ Resource, offers unpaid carers one-to-one support by phone, online or face to face.

Carers who would like help with personal development, confidence-building, or employment skills are invited to contact the team.

Support is also available for unpaid carers who may be having difficulties at work or in education, due to their caring responsibilities.

Team Leader Jenny Sengel, pictured, said: “If you are an unpaid carer and you would like to participate in any activities that might increase your confidence, develop new skills or lead towards employment, please do get in touch.

“We have helped a range of people in the past with workshops, mentoring and coaching to help carers look ahead and think about the learning or employment options available for them, either now or in the future.

“This flexible service will tailor coaching to each carer’s circumstances, skills and needs.

“Many participants in the past have identified a lack of confidence as a barrier to progress, so we will include tailored activities to help build confidence. We’ll help people set goals to work towards and give them encouragement to keep going when things are tough.”

This project is part-funded by the European Social Fund and part-funded by Yorkshire Water.
